(1) This Order may be cited as the Medicines (Exemptions from Licences) (Intermediate Medicated Feeding Stuffs) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 1st January 1990.
(2) In this Order–
 “the Act” means the Medicines Act 1968;
 “intermediate medicated feeding stuff” means any substance which is manufactured, sold, supplied or imported for use wholly or mainly as an ingredient in the preparation of a substance which is to be fed to one or more animals for a medicinal purpose or for purposes that include that purpose, with or without further processing.

(1) Subject to the condition specified in paragraph (2) below, the restrictions imposed by section 7 of the Act (general provisions as to dealing with medicinal products) shall not apply to anything done in relation to an intermediate medicated feeding stuff or to an intermediate medicated feeding stuff containing one or more licensed feed additives incorporated in accordance with the conditions of the product licence.
(2) The condition referred to in paragraph (1) above is that any medicinal product incorporated in that substance was so incorporated in accordance with the provisions of a product licence or an animal test certificate.
(3) The restrictions imposed by section 8 of the Act (provisions as to manufacture and wholesale dealing) shall not apply to anything done in relation to an intermediate medicated feeding stuff by a person whose name is entered in Part A of the Register kept by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain or the Department of Agriculture for Northern Ireland under regulation 6(1) of the Medicines (Medicated Animal Feeding Stuffs) Regulations 1989.
