(1) This Order may be cited as the Social Security Act 1986 (Commencement No. 9) Order 1988.
(2) In this Order, unless the context otherwise requires, references to sections and Schedules are references to sections of and Schedules to the Social Security Act 1986.

The day appointed for the coming into force of the provisions of the Social Security Act 1986 which are specified in the Schedule to this Order is 11th April 1988.

In the Social Security Act 1986 (Commencement No. 7) Order 1987, the commencement in the Schedule to that Order of the following provisions of the Social Security Act 1986 are revoked, that is to say—
(a) Schedule 3, paragraph 11, and section 39 in so far as it relates to that paragraph;
(b) the repeals in Schedule 11, and section 86(2) so far as it relates to those repeals, of the following provisions—
(i) in the Social Security Act 1975, Schedule 4, Part V, paragraphs 13 and 15, and in Schedule 20, the definitions of“The deceased” and“Industrial death benefit”;
(ii) in the Social Security (Consequential Provisions) Act 1975, Schedule 3, paragraph 18;
(iii) in the Pneumoconiosis etc. (Workers' Compensation) Act 1979, section 2(3), the words“industrial death benefit under section 76 of the Social Security Act 1975, or”.

The following repeals in Schedule 11 and section 86(2) in so far as it relates to those repeals— 
Social Security Act 1975—
(i) section 67
(ii) section 68
(iii) sections 70—75
