These Regulations may be cited as the Local Government (Rate Product) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 3rd February 1988.

In these Regulations, “the principal Regulations” means the Local Government (Rate Product) (Scotland) Regulations 1985.

After the words “the 1966 Act; and” in the proviso to paragraph (a) of the definition of “net rate income” in regulation 2 of the principal Regulations, there shall be inserted the following additional proviso, namely:—
 “provided also that, in respect of the year 1988-89, the shortfall under head (iv) of this paragraph shall be reduced by the amount set out in respect of that area in column 2 of Table II of Appendix E to the Report to the Rate Support Grant (Scotland) (No. 3) Order 1987, which is the amount of the reduction or remission of rates granted under section 4(5)(c) of the said Act of 1962as estimated by the Secretary of State, which the Secretary of State has determined to be appropriate to be taken into account for the purposes of apportioning a part of the needs element of rate support grants for the year 1988-89 under paragraph 2A of Part I of Schedule 1 to the 1966 Act (grant for rate relief given to certain recreational clubs); and”.
