(1) This Order may be cited as the Local Government Administration (Matters Subject to Investigation) (Scotland) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 24th August 1988.
(2) In this Order—
 “the Act” means the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1975; and
 “joint police committee” means any joint police committee constituted by an amalgamation scheme made or approved under the Police (Scotland) Act 1967.

There shall be excluded from paragraph 2 of Schedule 5 to the Act (matters not subject to investigation by the Commissioner for Local Administration in Scotland), action taken by an authority other than a police authority or a joint police committee in connection with the investigation or prevention of crime and, accordingly, for the words “any authority” in that paragraph there shall be substituted the words “any police authority or any joint police committee constituted by an amalgamation scheme made or approved under the Police (Scotland) Act 1967”.
