These Regulations may be cited as the Water (Meters) (Amendment) Regulations 1988 and shall come into force on 1st October 1988.

For regulation 7 of the Water (Meters) Regulations 1988 (expenses of testing) there shall be substituted— “

(1) Subject to paragraph (2), where a test is carried out in accordance with Regulation 6 at the request of the customer, and the meter on being tested falls within the prescribed limits of error, the undertakers may recover from the customer the expenses reasonably incurred by them in carrying out the test.
(2) In the case of a meter which is connected to a supply of water to a house, the expenses recoverable under this Regulation shall not exceed:—
(a) where the test is carried out by removing the meter from premises, £70;
(b) in any other case, £20.”.
