This Order may be cited as the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (Codes of Practice) Order 1988 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is approved by resolution of each House of Parliament.

The code of practice laid in draft before Parliament on 13th June 1988 in connection with the tape-recording of interviews of persons suspected of the commission of criminal offences which are held by police officers at police stations shall come into operation on the day after the day on which this Order is approved by resolution of each House of Parliament.
