These Regulations which may be cited as the Medicines (Child Safety) Amendment Regulations 1987, shall be read as one with the Medicines (Child Safety) Regulations 1975 (hereinafter referred to as“the principal Regulations”), and shall come into force on 4th June 1987.

Regulation 2(3) is amended in accordance with the following provisions:—
(1) In regulation 2(3)(b), for the words“British Standard 5321 published on 31st October 1975 as amended by AMD 2077 published on 16th August 1976”, there are substituted the words“British Standard 6652 published by the British Standards Institution on 30th September 1985”.
(2) In regulation 2(3)(d) after the words“1st January 1976”there is added the word“or”.
(3) After regulation 2(3)(d) there is added:—“
(e)  reclosable containers which are opaque or dark-tinted, identical in all respects to containers which comply with the requirements of British Standard 5321 published on 31st October 1975 as amended by AMD 2077 published on 16th August 1976 and which—
(i) have been certified by the British Standards Institution as complying with those requirements, or
(ii) until 31st January 1988, are certified by the British Standards Institution as complying with those requirements, or
(iii) are part of a series of containers (referred to in the said AMD 2077 published on 16th August 1976) in respect of which the licensing authority has already been furnished with a report by the British Standards Institution, so as to enable the licensing authority to publish a notice in the Gazette to the effect that such containers comply with the requirements of British Standard 5321 as amended. ”
