(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Smoke Control Areas (Authorised Fuels) Regulations 1987 and shall come into force on 1st May 1987.
(2) These Regulations shall extend to England and Wales.

The fuel described in the Schedule to these Regulations, having—
(a) the maximum sulphur content,
(b) the minimum and maximum gross calorific values, and
(c) the minimum and maximum contents of moisture, ash, volatile matter and fixed carbonspecified in relation to it in the said Schedule, is hereby declared to be an authorised fuel for the purposes of the Clean Air Act 1956.
