These Regulations may be cited as the Schools General (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1987 and shall come into force on 1st April 1987.

For regulation 5 of the Schools General (Scotland) Regulations 1975 there shall be substituted the following regulation:–“
5 
An education authority shall, except where prevented by circumstances outwiththeir control, secure that every school under their management shall be open for at least–
(a) 198 school days (excluding Saturdays and Sundays) in the school year which ends on 31st July 1987; and
(b) 190 school days (excluding Saturdays and Sundays) in each subsequent school year.”
