This Order may be cited as the Medicines (Exemptions from Licences) (Carbadox and Olaquindox) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 15th January 1988.

In this Order—
 “the Act” means the Medicines Act 1968;
 “carbadox” means the substance for which such name is shown in the list of names prepared and published under section 100 of the Act, otherwise known as methyl 3—quinoxalin—2—ylmethylenecarbazate 1,4—dioxide;
 “olaquindox” means the substance for which such name is shown in the list of names prepared and published under section 100 of the Act, otherwise known as 2—(2—Hydroxyethylcarbamoyl)—3—methylquinoxaline 1,4—dioxide.

Section 9(2) of the Act (exemptions from licensing requirements for veterinary surgeons and veterinary practitioners) shall not have effect so as to exempt from the restrictions imposed by sections 7 and 8 of the Act (licensing requirements relating to dealing with and manufacture of medicinal products) anything done by a veterinary surgeon or veterinary practitioner in relation to a medicinal product consisting of, or containing, carbadox or olaquindox.
