These Regulations may be cited as the Crown Prosecution Service (Witnesses' Allowances) (Amendment No. 5) Regulations 1987 and shall come into operation on 7th October 1987.

In these Regulations “the principal Regulations” means the Crown Prosecution Service (Witnesses' Allowances) Regulations 1986.

In Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations, in Column 3 of the Table, which sets out relevant amounts in relation to allowances payable under those Regulations —
(a) for the sum of £25.40 in the entry for regulation 6(a) (financial loss allowance in respect of certain expenditure incurred by a witness who attends to give evidence other than professional or expert evidence) there shall be substituted £27.50; and
(b) for the sums of £12.70 and £25.40 in the entry for regulation 6(b) (financial loss allowance in respect of certain losses suffered by such a witness) there shall be substituted £13.75 and £27.50 respectively.

In Schedule 2 to the principal Regulations, which makes provision as to mileage rates etc. in respect of journeys by private motor vehicles —
(a) in the Table in Part I (standard mileage rate), for the sums of 10.2p, 14.3p, 19.6p and 31.8p there shall be substituted 11p, 15.3p, 21.3p and 34.4p respectively; and
(b) in the Table in Part II (public transport mileage rates), for the sums of 10.2p, 14.3p and 14.5p (in both places where it appears) there shall be substituted 11p, 15.3p and 15.6p respectively.

The Crown Prosecution Service (Witnesses' Allowances) (Amendment) Regulations 1986 and regulation 5 of the Crown Prosecution Service (Witnesses' Allowances) (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 1986 are hereby revoked.
