These Rules may be cited as the Detention Centre (Amendment) Rules 1987 and come into force on 13th August 1987.

Rule 6 of the Detention Centre Rules 1983(which relates to remission of sentence) shall be amended by substituting for paragraph (2) the following paragraph:—“
(2) The remission granted under this rule shall not exceed one-half of the total of the actual term and any period taken into account under section 67 of the Criminal Justice Act 1967 (which relates to the computation of custodial sentences):
 Provided that this rule shall not permit the reduction of the actual term to less than 5 days.”
