
Article 1 
Vessels flying the flag of, or registered in, a Member State shall be prohibited from using nets with a mesh size of less than 16 mm when fishing for capelin in that part of the Convention zone which extends beyond the maritime waters falling within the fisheries jurisdiction of the Contracting Parties to this Convention.
The definition of the Convention zone is to be found in the Annex.
A vessel shall be deemed to be fishing for capelin if it has capelin on board which exceeds 50 % by weight of the total amount of capelin and other species on board.
Article 2 
This Regulation shall enter into force on the third day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Communities.
This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.Done at Brussels, 8 July 1985.

ANNEX

The area to which the Convention applies shall be the waters:

((a)) within those parts of the Atlantic and Arctic Oceans and their dependent seas which lie north of latitude 36o N and between longitude 42o W and longitude 51o E, but excluding:

((i)) the Baltic Sea and the Belts lying to the south and east of lines drawn from Hasenore Head to Gniben Point, from Korshage to Spodsbjerg and from Gilbierg Head to the Kullen, and
((ii)) the Mediterranean Sea and its dependent seas as far as the point of intersection of the parallel of latitude 36o N and the meridian of longitude 5o 36' W;
((b)) within that part of the Atlantic Ocean north of latitude 59o N and between longitude 44o W and longitude 42o W.
