These regulations, which may be cited as the Social Security (Widow's Benefit and Retirement Pensions) Amendment Regulations 1984 amend the Social Security (Widow's Benefit and Retirement Pensions) Regulations 1979 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”) and shall come into operation on 26th November 1984.

For paragraph (a) of regulation 10 of the principal regulations (conditions for entitlement to a Category D retirement pension) there shall be substituted—“
(a) was resident in Great Britain for a period of at least 10 years in any continuous period of 20 years which included the day before that on which he attained the age of 80 or any day thereafter; and”

A person's failure to satisfy the old condition of entitlement contained in regulation 10(a) of the principal regulations as made, shall not prevent his becoming entitled hereafter by satisfying the new condition which is substituted by these regulations.
