This order may be cited as the Social Security Act 1980 (Commencement No. 4) Order 1984.

The day appointed for the coming into force of those provisions of the Social Security Act 1980 which are specified in the Schedule to this order shall be 26th November 1984.

Article 2

Provisions of the Social Security Act 1980 for which 26th November 1984 is appointed as the day of coming into force.

Provision of the Act Subject matter
In Part I of Schedule 1, paragraphs 1(2) and 4 Amendments relating to similar treatment for men and women in respect of increases, for children and persons having the care of children, of short-term benefits, invalidity pension, non-contributory invalidity pension, retirement pension and disablement pension.
In Part II of Schedule 1, paragraph 14 Abolition of supplementary schemes for industrial injuries and diseases.
In Part II of Schedule 5, the entries relating to sections 41(6), 65(4) and 158 of and Schedule 19 to the Social Security Act 1975 Repeal of enactments.
