This Order may be cited as the Trade Descriptions (Country of Origin) (Cutlery) Order 1981 and shall come into operation on 1st January 1982.

(1) This Order applies to any piece of cutlery of which the whole or any part is made of silver-plated stainless steel and which would have been suitable for supply by retail for domestic use without that piece or that part, as the case may be, having been silver-plated.
(2) In this Order, “cutlery” means knives, forks, spoons, ladles, servers, slicers, sharpening steels and other similar articles.

In relation to cutlery to which this Order applies, the process of silverplating or any process ancillary thereto shall be regarded for the purposes of section 36 of the Trade Descriptions Act 1968 as not resulting in a substantial change.
