1
This Order may be cited as the Foreign Compensation (Staff) (Superannuation Benefits) Order 1977 and shall come into operation on 27th January 1978.
2
The Foreign Compensation (Staff) (Superannuation Benefits) Order 1964 and the Foreign Compensation (Staff) (Superannuation Benefits) (Amendment) Order 1973 are hereby revoked.
3
The like pensions or other benefits in connexion with their retirement or death shall be granted to or in respect of officers or servants of the Foreign Compensation Commission as may be granted under the principal civil service pension scheme within the meaning of section 2 of the Superannuation Act 1972 and for the time being in force to or in respect of persons serving in the civil service of the State (whether or not the terms of appointment of such officers or servants state them to be outside the civil service superannuation arrangements). If the service with the Foreign Compensation Commission of any such servant or officer terminates for a reason other than retirement or death, any entitlement to a pension or other benefit upon retirement or death which has accrued by virtue of that service shall not be affected.
4
The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament, and as if for the purposes of section 38 of that Act this Order were an Act of Parliament and the Orders revoked by Article 2 were Acts of Parliament thereby repealed.
N. E. Leigh
Clerk of the Privy Council
