(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Hydrocarbon Oil (Amendment) Regulations 1977 and shall come into operation on 1st January 1978.
(2) The Interpretation Act 1889 applies for the interpretation of these Regulations as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

The Hydrocarbon Oil Regulations 1973, as amended , shall be further amended as follows—
(a) In Regulation 2—
(i) in the definition of “gas”, for the words “ at a temperature of 60°F and under a pressure of one atmosphere” substitute the words “at a temperature of 15°C and under a pressure of 1013.25 millibars”, and
(ii) in the definition of “heated oil”, for the words “60°F” substitute the words “15°C”;
(b) In Regulation 12(1)(c) and Regulation 12(2)(a), for the word “gallons” substitute in both places the words “litres”;
(c) In Regulation 15, for the word “gallons” (wherever occurring) substitute the word “litres”, and for the words “60°F” (in both places) substitute the words “15°C”;
(d) In Regulation 19, for the words “one hundred thousand gallons” substitute the words “one million litres”, for the words “1¾ pounds” substitute the words “1.75 kilograms” and for the words “4 pounds” (in both places) substitute the words “4 kilograms”;
(e) In Regulation 24(2)(b), for the word “fifty gallons” substitute the words “litres”;
(f) In Regulation 27, for the words “fifty gallons” substitute the words “two hundred and fifty litres”.

The Hydrocarbon Oil (Amendment) Regulations 1974  are revoked.
