These Rules may be cited as the Patents (Amendment No. 2) Rules 1975 and shall come into operation on 20th June 1975.

The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply to the interpretation of these Rules as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

The Patents Rules 1968, as amended, shall have effect subject to the following further amendments:—
(a) to Rule 58 there shall be added the words “after the acceptance of a complete specification”;
(b) in Rule 64,
(i) before the words “before the expiration of that year” there shall be inserted the words “in the three months”; and
(ii) for the words “at any time before the expiration of three months from the date of sealing the patent” there shall be substituted the words “not more than three months before the expiration of the fourth or relevant succeeding year but before the expiration of three months from the date of sealing the patent”; and
(c) Rule 65 shall be deleted.
