(1) This Order may be cited as the Uniform Laws on International Sales Order 1972.
(2) This Order, except for Article 2(d), shall come into operation on 18th August 1972 and Article 2(d) shall come into operation on 23rd August 1972.

It is hereby declared that—
(a) the date on which the Convention relating to a Uniform Law on the International Sale of Goods done at The Hague on 1st July 1964 (hereinafter referred to as “the First Convention”) comes into force in respect of the United Kingdom is 18th August 1972;
(b) a declaration under Article V of the First Convention (concerning the application of the Uniform Law on Sales only by choice of the parties) has been made by the United Kingdom and has not been withdrawn;
(c) the states specified in the Schedule to this Order, other than the Italian Republic, are Contracting States for the purposes of the First Convention in respect of the territories there specified in relation to them;
(d) the Italian Republic becomes a Contracting State for the purposes of the First Convention in respect of the territory specified in the Schedule in relation to it on 23rd August 1972.

It is hereby further declared that the date on which the Convention relating to a Uniform Law on the Formation of Contracts for the International Sale of Goods done at The Hague on 1st July 1964 comes into force in respect of the United Kingdom is 18th August 1972.
