This Order may be cited as the Pensions Increase (Reduction of Qualifying Age) Order 1972, and shall come into operation on 1st December 1972.

The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
3 
The age of sixty years referred to in subsections (2)(a) and (3)(a) of section 3 of the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971 (which lay down qualifying conditions for increases of pensions) shall be reduced to the age of fifty-five years.
