(1) A delegation scheme under section 46 of the Local Government Act 1958 (whether made before or after the commencement of this Act) which provides for the exercise by the council of a county district of any of a local health authority's functions mentioned in subsection (1) of that section shall have effect as if it also provided for the exercise of the functions of the local health authority as welfare authority, and of its medical officer of health, under section 203 of the Public Health Act 1936 (notification of births to medical officers of welfare authorities) by the council of the county district and its medical officer of health respectively, and references in the said section 203 to a welfare authority shall be construed accordingly.
(2) The requirement imposed by subsection (2) of the said section 203 on welfare authorities in England and Wales to supply stamped addressed postcards containing the form of notice to be given under that section, and the like requirement imposed by section 1(2) of the Notification of Births Act 1907 on local authorities in Scotland, shall each have effect as a requirement to supply prepaid addressed envelopes together with the forms of notice, and accordingly in those subsections for the words " addressed and stamped postcards containing the form of notice " there shall be substituted the words " prepaid addressed envelopes together with the forms of notice ".

(1) This Act may be cited as the Public Health (Notification of Births) Act 1965.
(2) This Act shall come into operation at the expiration of the period of one month beginning with the date of its passing.
