(1) These regulations may be cited as the Local Government (Compensation) (Amendment) Regulations, 1949, and shall come into operation on the first day of April, 1949.
(2) These regulations and the Local Government (Compensation) Regulations, 1948, shall be construed as one, and may be cited together as the Local Government (Compensation) Regulations, 1948 and 1949.
(3) The Interpretation Act, 1889, applies to the interpretation of these regulations as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

In regulation 2 of the Local Government (Compensation) Regulations, 1948, in paragraph (a) of the definition of “existing officer”, there shall be added the words “provided that any war service undertaken on ceasing to follow any of the said employments or any combination thereof shall be deemed to be a continuation of that employment or combination of employments”.
